An Introduction to Getting a Stair-Lift

First, we have to know a little about you and your weight and your height:

• Your Weight:  standard stair lifts have about a 275 pound weight capacity.  If someone is going to use your stair lift over the weight capacity, we have other models with a 350 lb and 400 lb capacity.

• Your Height:  most stair lifts easily fit someone between 5' and 6'.  But some models have an adjustable foot rest to give a little more or less leg room for those shorter or taller.

Second, we'd like to know if you are interested in a straight indoor model, straight outdoor model, curved indoor model or curved outdoor model; or a porch residential or commercial model:

Five:  We'd like to know if you think your stair lift should be on the left side or the right side of your stairway.  (downstairs, looking upstairs, what side do you think would be best.

Six:  Do you have an electrical outlet somewhere near your stairway.  Your stairlift actually runs on two batteries, and we have to plug-in a battery charger somewhere.

Seven:  Our there any obstructions on the bottom of your stairway:

Optional Flip-Up:  Sometimes there is an obstruction near the bottom landing.  The stairlift track usually follows your steps all the way to the bottom landing.  Sometimes a door has to open, or the stair track acts like an obstruction.  Most models come with an optional manual or powered hinged flip up.

Eight:  approximately how many steps do you have.  Stairlifts fit directly on the staircase steps, not the wall.  If your stairway track is determined to have to be longer than 15' 8" then we are going to have to bring longer track.
